Description
Van Gogh’s Doctor Gachet’s Garden in Auvers, hand-painted in oil
Painted in 1890 at Auvers-sur-Oise, where Van Gogh spent the last months of his life under the care of Dr Paul Gachet, this picture looks into the doctor’s terraced garden, a dense, vertical tangle of greens, cypress and bright flowers climbing the canvas. It shows the restless energy and rich colour of his final, astonishingly productive weeks. The original is held at the Musée d’Orsay in Paris.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the vivid greens, flowers and rhythmic brushwork keep the life of the original.
Where a lush garden scene belongs
Its fresh greens suit a living room, a bedroom or a bright hallway, and pair naturally with wood, greenery and warm light.
