Description
Van Gogh’s Farm with Stacks of Peat, hand-painted in oil
Painted in 1883 in the remote Drenthe region of the northern Netherlands, Farm with Stacks of Peat shows a low farm and dark stacks of cut peat under a vast, heavy sky. Van Gogh went to Drenthe seeking the raw poetry of the moorland, and captured it here in sombre browns and greys, bleak, quiet and deeply atmospheric.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the brooding sky and earthy land keep the mood of the original.
Where an atmospheric landscape belongs
Its moody, low tones suit a study, a hallway or a considered modern interior, and pair well with warm woods and soft lighting.
