Description
Van Gogh’s The Raising of Lazarus, hand-painted in oil
Painted at Saint-Rémy in 1890, The Raising of Lazarus is Van Gogh’s free reworking of an etching by Rembrandt, an artist he deeply revered. He replaced the original’s figure of Christ with a blazing yellow sun and cast the whole scene in his own swirling blues, golds and greens, turning a Bible miracle into a personal image of light, healing and rebirth.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the glowing sun and swirling colour keep the feeling of the original.
Where a luminous figure scene belongs
Warm and full of light, it suits a living room, a study or a hallway, and pairs well with warm woods and rich interiors.
