Description
Van Gogh’s Marshy Landscape, hand-painted in oil
Painted in 1883 in the remote Drenthe region of the northern Netherlands, Marshy Landscape stretches across flat, waterlogged ground under a vast, brooding sky. Van Gogh went to Drenthe for its raw, lonely moorland, and worked this scene in sombre browns, greens and greys, spare, quiet and deeply atmospheric.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the heavy sky and earthy marsh keep the mood of the original.
Where an atmospheric landscape belongs
Its moody, low tones suit a study, a hallway or a considered interior, and pair well with warm woods and soft lighting.
