Description
Van Gogh’s The Trinquetaille Bridge, hand-painted in oil
Painted in Arles in October 1888, The Trinquetaille Bridge shows the iron road-bridge over the Rhône and the broad stone stair climbing to it, with small figures on the steps. Van Gogh worked it in cool, autumnal greys, blues and greens under a pale sky, a modern, almost melancholy cityscape, quieter and more restrained than his blazing summer scenes.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the cool greys and modern lines keep the mood of the original.
Where a cool cityscape belongs
Its restrained palette suits a study, a living room or a hallway, and pairs well with wood, stone and modern interiors.
