Description
Van Gogh’s Hospital at Saint-Remy, hand-painted in oil
Painted in 1889 during his stay at the Saint-Paul asylum, this view looks at the old hospital building through the trunks and foliage of its garden, a lone figure among the trees. Van Gogh painted the place that both confined and sheltered him with a strange tenderness, in warm ochres and greens under a soft sky, a personal record of the ground he walked each day.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the warm building and garden trees keep the mood of the original.
Where an atmospheric scene belongs
Its warm, quiet tones suit a study, a living room or a hallway, and pair naturally with wood and warm light.
