Description
Van Gogh’s Marguerite Gachet in the Garden, hand-painted in oil
Painted at Auvers-sur-Oise in 1890, this fresh picture shows Marguerite Gachet, the daughter of Van Gogh’s friend Dr Gachet, standing in a white dress among a lush garden of green and white roses. From the last weeks of his life, it is bright and tender, the pale figure almost dissolving into the flowering garden around her, light, fresh and full of summer.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the white dress, green garden and fresh light keep the charm of the original.
Where a fresh garden scene belongs
Its light greens and whites suit a bedroom, a living room or a bright hallway, and pair beautifully with pale walls, wood and greenery.
