Description
Van Gogh’s Girl in a Wood, hand-painted in oil
Painted near The Hague in 1882, one of his earliest oil paintings, Girl in a Wood shows a small figure standing among a stand of slender tree trunks on a thick carpet of autumn leaves. Van Gogh was thrilled by the receding perspective of the wood and the light filtering through the trees, and worked it in deep, earthy greens and browns, an atmospheric, formative work from the very start of his career.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the tall trees and earthy floor keep the mood of the original.
Where an atmospheric wood belongs
Its deep greens and browns suit a study, a living room or a hallway, and pair naturally with wood and warm light.
