Description
Van Gogh’s Weaver at the Loom, hand-painted in oil
Painted in Nuenen in 1884, Weaver at the Loom shows a weaver almost caged within the great dark wooden frame of his loom, lit by a small window. Van Gogh was fascinated by the weavers of the region and painted them many times, moved by the way the huge, complicated machine seemed to swallow the small human figure, a sombre, powerful image of country labour.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the dark loom and lit figure keep the mood of the original.
Where an atmospheric interior belongs
Its dark, warm tones suit a study, a hallway or a considered interior, and pair well with wood and warm, low lighting.
