Description
Van Gogh’s Memory of the Garden at Etten, hand-painted in oil
Painted in Arles in 1888 while Gauguin urged him to work from imagination, Memory of the Garden at Etten conjures the garden of Van Gogh’s childhood home in the Netherlands. Two women walk a path among dense flowerbeds, painted from memory in bold, dreamlike bands of orange, green and violet, not a real view but a remembered feeling, one of his most experimental and decorative works.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the rich colour and dreamlike garden keep the feeling of the original.
Where a decorative garden belongs
Bold and richly coloured, it suits a living room, a dining room or a hallway, and pairs well with warm, confident interiors.
