Description
Van Gogh’s Avenue of Poplars in Autumn, hand-painted in oil
Painted near Nuenen in 1884, Avenue of Poplars in Autumn looks straight down a tall avenue of poplars, their trunks receding to a distant figure, the ground carpeted with fallen leaves. Van Gogh loved the strong perspective of such an avenue, and painted this one in warm russets and golds under a soft sky, an atmospheric, intimate scene of the Dutch autumn.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the tall poplars and autumn colour keep the mood of the original.
Where an autumn avenue belongs
Its warm russets suit a living room, a study or a hallway, and pair beautifully with wood and warm light.
