Description
Van Gogh’s Rain, Auvers, hand-painted in oil
Painted at Auvers-sur-Oise in July 1890, in the last weeks of his life, Rain, Auvers looks across a wide green plain of fields and houses seen through a veil of slanting rain, rendered in bold diagonal strokes scratched right across the surface. Inspired by the rain-effects of the Japanese prints he loved, it is a striking, almost graphic picture of weather and mood.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the green plain and slanting rain keep the mood of the original.
Where an atmospheric landscape belongs
Cool and evocative, it suits a study, a living room or a hallway, and pairs well with wood and considered interiors.
