Description
Van Gogh’s La Guinguette, hand-painted in oil
Painted in Paris in 1886, La Guinguette (Terrace of a Café on Montmartre) shows one of the popular open-air dance-and-drinking gardens on the hill of Montmartre, its terrace set with tables under bare autumn trees and coloured lamps. From Van Gogh’s early Paris months, it is painted in soft, atmospheric colour as his palette began to brighten, a quiet, evocative corner of Parisian leisure.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the terrace, lamps and autumn trees keep the mood of the original.
Where a Parisian cafe scene belongs
Atmospheric and charming, it suits a living room, a kitchen, a cafe-styled space or a hallway, and pairs well with warm, characterful interiors.
