Description
Van Gogh’s Caravans, Gypsy Encampment, hand-painted in oil
Painted near Arles in 1888, this warm scene shows a group of travellers’ caravans drawn up in a field, a couple of horses and small figures beside them under a bright southern sky. Van Gogh was drawn to the colour and freedom of the roadside encampment, and painted it in fresh golds, greens and blues with quick, lively strokes, a sunny, characterful glimpse of life on the road.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the painted wagons and bright field keep the charm of the original.
Where a lively scene belongs
Warm and colourful, it suits a living room, a study or a hallway, and pairs well with wood and warm interiors.
