Description
Van Gogh’s Flame Nettle in a Flowerpot, hand-painted in oil
Painted in Paris in 1886, Flame Nettle in a Flowerpot is a fresh study of a coleus, or flame nettle, its leaves patterned in fiery reds, pinks and greens, growing from a simple pot against a soft ground. Van Gogh loved the vivid, patterned foliage and painted it closely in bright colour, a small, glowing study of a striking houseplant.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the fiery leaves and fresh colour keep the vibrancy of the original.
Where a vivid botanical belongs
Bright and lively, it suits a kitchen, a study, a bathroom or a hallway, and pairs beautifully with greenery, wood and soft light.
