Description
Van Gogh’s Bank of the Seine, hand-painted in oil
Painted in 1887 on the banks of the Seine near Asnières outside Paris, this fresh scene shows a green riverbank, a boat and the shining water under a bright sky. It comes from the spring Van Gogh painted alongside his Impressionist and Pointillist friends, worked in small, lively strokes and clean, light colour, sunny, airy and full of the pleasure of the riverside.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the green bank and shining water keep the charm of the original.
Where a fresh riverside belongs
Its light greens and blues suit a bedroom, a living room or a bright hallway, and pair beautifully with pale walls, wood and greenery.
