Description
Van Gogh’s Cypresses and Two Women, hand-painted in oil
Painted at Saint-Rémy in early 1890, Cypresses and Two Women sets two small figures walking before a pair of towering, dark green cypresses that twist upward like flames against a swirling sky. Van Gogh was captivated by the cypress all through his southern years; here the great trees dwarf the women and set the whole picture in restless, rolling motion, one of his last cypress works.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the towering cypresses and swirling sky keep the energy of the original.
Where a dramatic landscape belongs
Bold and atmospheric, it suits a living room, a study or a stairwell, and pairs well with warm woods and considered interiors.
