Description
Van Gogh’s Olive Trees on a Hillside, hand-painted in oil
Painted at Saint-Rémy in 1889, Olive Trees on a Hillside is one of the series of olive-grove pictures Van Gogh made during his year at the asylum. The gnarled trees climb a rolling hillside, their silver-green foliage and the ground beneath worked in the same restless, rhythmic strokes, the whole landscape breathing with movement. For Van Gogh the olive groves held a deep, almost sacred feeling.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the twisting trees and rolling hillside keep the movement of the original.
Where a calm, earthy landscape belongs
Its soft greens and ochres suit a living room, a bedroom or a workspace, and pair naturally with wood, stone, linen and greenery.
