Description
Van Gogh’s Reminiscence of Brabant, hand-painted in oil
Painted at Saint-Rémy in early 1890, Reminiscence of Brabant is one of the pictures Van Gogh made from memory of the Dutch countryside of his youth, homesick in the south. Low cottages, bare trees and peasant figures fill the scene in the earthy tones of his early work, but touched now with the freer, rolling brushwork of his late style, a tender, backward glance at the world he came from.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the remembered cottages and earthy colour keep the feeling of the original.
Where a country scene belongs
Its warm, earthy tones suit a study, a living room or a hallway, and pair naturally with wood and warm light.
