Description
Van Gogh’s Ravine at Saint-Remy, hand-painted in oil
Painted at Saint-Rémy in 1889, Ravine plunges the eye into a deep, rocky gorge in the hills, a stream rushing between steep banks worked in surging strokes of green, ochre and violet, with two tiny figures on the path. Van Gogh was drawn to the raw power of these mountain places, and painted this one with tremendous energy, one of the most dramatic and physical of all his late landscapes.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the plunging gorge and surging strokes keep the power of the original.
Where a dramatic landscape belongs
Bold and elemental, it makes a statement in a living room, a study or a stairwell, and pairs well with warm woods and considered interiors.
