Description
Van Gogh’s Weaver, Interior with Three Small Windows, hand-painted in oil
Painted in Nuenen in 1884, this interior sets the great dark frame of a weaver’s loom against a wall pierced by three small windows, the daylight glowing through as the weaver works within the wooden cage of his machine. Van Gogh studied the Brabant weavers intently, drawn to the drama of the huge loom in the dim cottage; here the contrast of shadowed beams and pale light gives the humble workshop a quiet grandeur.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the loom and glowing windows keep the mood of the original.
Where an interior scene belongs
Its dark beams and warm light suit a study, a hallway or a considered interior, and pair well with wood and warm light.
