Description
Van Gogh’s Les Peiroulets Ravine, hand-painted in oil
Painted at Saint-Rémy in 1889, Les Peiroulets Ravine looks into a deep, rocky gorge in the hills above the asylum, a stream running between steep banks worked in surging strokes of green, ochre and violet, with two tiny figures for scale. Van Gogh was drawn to the raw power of these mountain places; here the plunging walls and restless brushwork make one of the most physical and dramatic of all his late landscapes.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the plunging gorge and surging strokes keep the power of the original.
Where a dramatic landscape belongs
Bold and elemental, it makes a statement in a living room, a study or a stairwell, and pairs well with warm woods and considered interiors.
