Description
Van Gogh’s Glass with Carnations, hand-painted in oil
Painted at Auvers-sur-Oise in 1890, in the last weeks of his life, this small, fresh flower piece sets a few carnations in a plain glass against a light ground. Van Gogh painted many quick studies of cut flowers in these final months, delighting in their simple colour and life; here the pink and white blooms and green stems are set down in fresh, lively strokes, delicate and full of light.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the carnations and lively strokes keep the freshness of the original.
Where a flower still life belongs
Soft and cheerful, it suits a bedroom, a kitchen or a living room, and pairs beautifully with pale walls, wood and greenery.
