Description
Van Gogh’s Parsonage Garden at Nuenen in the Snow, hand-painted in oil
Painted in Nuenen in the winter of 1885, this shows the garden of his father’s parsonage under a thin fall of snow, the bare trees, hedges and paths hushed and grey beneath a cold sky. Van Gogh painted this familiar garden through the seasons; here the muted whites, browns and greys and the quiet, empty stillness give the winter scene a tender, intimate melancholy.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the snowy garden and muted tones keep the mood of the original.
Where a winter garden belongs
Its quiet, cool tones suit a study, a hallway or a living room, and pair well with wood and considered interiors.
