Description
Van Gogh’s Still Life with Copper Coffeepot, hand-painted in oil
Painted in Nuenen in 1885, this warm still life sets a gleaming copper coffeepot beside two white bowls and other simple vessels on a table against a dark ground. Van Gogh painted many such kitchen still lifes in his Dutch years to study light and material; here he delights in the warm shine of the copper set against the cool white of the bowls, modelling everything in rich earth tones with a solid, tactile presence.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the copper pot and white bowls keep the character of the original.
Where a still life belongs
Its warm, earthy tones suit a kitchen, a dining room or a study, and pair well with wood and warm light.
