Description
Van Gogh’s Fritillaries, hand-painted in oil
Painted in Paris in 1886, this striking flower piece sets a mass of orange crown-imperial fritillaries in a gleaming copper vase against a ground flecked with blue. One of the boldest of Van Gogh’s early Paris flower pieces, it rings the warm orange blooms and copper against the cool blue background in vivid complementary colour, laid on in rich, energetic strokes, a brilliant study of colour and light.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the orange blooms and copper vase keep the brilliance of the original.
Where a flower still life belongs
Bold and warm, it suits a living room, a dining room or a hallway, and pairs beautifully with warm woods and natural light.
