Description
Van Gogh’s The Seine Bridge at Asnieres, hand-painted in oil
Painted near Asnières outside Paris in 1887, this bright riverside shows a bridge spanning the Seine, with boats on the shimmering water and the far bank beyond. Van Gogh spent that spring and summer painting the sunlit banks of the Seine alongside his Impressionist and Pointillist friends; here the sparkling water and open sky are built from small, separate touches of fresh colour, calm and full of light.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the bridge and shimmering water keep the freshness of the original.
Where a riverside scene belongs
Its fresh, sunny palette suits a living room, a bedroom or a bright hallway, and pairs beautifully with pale walls, wood and greenery.
