Description
Van Gogh’s Still Life with a Basket of Oranges, hand-painted in oil
Painted in Arles in 1888, this vivid still life heaps oranges and lemons into a basket on a bright ground, with a few sprigs of cypress at the side. Painted at the height of Van Gogh’s new southern colour, it rings with fresh oranges, yellows and greens laid on in bold, direct strokes, a small burst of Provence sunshine and one of his most cheerful still lifes.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the bright fruit and bold colour keep the vitality of the original.
Where a bright still life belongs
Fresh and sunny, it suits a kitchen, a dining room or a living room, and pairs beautifully with pale walls, wood and natural light.
