Description
Van Gogh’s The Public Park at Arles, hand-painted in oil
Painted in Arles in the autumn of 1888, this shows the public garden opposite his Yellow House, its lawns, bushes and great trees running back under a warm sky, with a stroller on the path. Van Gogh painted this garden as a series he called the ‘Poet’s Garden’, to decorate the room he prepared for Gauguin; here the rich greens, blues and gold are worked in his rhythmic strokes, a warm, poetic vision of the park.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the leafy park and warm colour keep the mood of the original.
Where a park scene belongs
Its warm, leafy tones suit a living room, a bedroom or a hallway, and pair beautifully with wood, greenery and warm light.
