Description
Van Gogh’s The Lovers, The Poet’s Garden IV, hand-painted in oil
Painted in Arles in the autumn of 1888, this is the fourth of Van Gogh’s ‘Poet’s Garden’ series, made to decorate the room he prepared for Gauguin. A couple of lovers strolls arm in arm beneath the great trees of the public garden, which he imagined as a garden of poets and lovers. Worked in rich autumn greens, blues and gold with his rhythmic strokes, it is a tender, romantic vision of the park.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the leafy park and strolling lovers keep the mood of the original.
Where a park scene belongs
Its warm, leafy tones suit a living room, a bedroom or a hallway, and pair beautifully with wood, greenery and warm light.
