Description
Van Gogh’s Le Mont Gaussier with the Mas de Saint-Paul, hand-painted in oil
Painted at Saint-Rémy in 1889, this shows the craggy peak of Mont Gaussier rising above the farmhouse (the mas) of Saint-Paul and the surrounding fields and olives. Van Gogh was drawn to the rugged silhouette of these Provence mountains; here the jagged rocks, silver olives and warm fields are worked in his rhythmic strokes of blue, green and ochre, a bold, sunlit view of the country he knew from his window.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the craggy peak and warm fields keep the character of the original.
Where a mountain landscape belongs
Its bold, sunny tones suit a living room, a study or a hallway, and pair well with warm woods and considered interiors.
