Description
Van Gogh’s Landscape near Saint-Remy, hand-painted in oil
Painted in early 1890 near the Saint-Paul asylum, this shows the rolling country around Saint-Rémy, fields, scattered trees and the wave-like Alpilles hills under a wide sky. Van Gogh knew this landscape intimately from his year there and painted it in his rhythmic late style; here the moving fields, trees and hills are worked in surging strokes of green, blue and ochre, a warm, living view of the Provence country.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the rolling country and rhythmic strokes keep the feeling of the original.
Where a country landscape belongs
Its warm, earthy tones suit a living room, a study or a hallway, and pair naturally with wood and warm light.
