Description
Van Gogh’s The Fields, hand-painted in oil
Painted at Auvers-sur-Oise in the summer of 1890, in the last weeks of his life, this shows the wide, fertile plain of Auvers spread out under a big sky, its patchwork of green and gold fields running to the horizon. Van Gogh loved these vast, open views of the cultivated country; here the broad fields and light sky are worked in firm, rhythmic strokes, a calm, expansive picture of the summer land.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the wide fields and rhythmic strokes keep the feeling of the original.
Where a plain landscape belongs
Its calm greens and golds suit a living room, a study or a hallway, and pair beautifully with wood and warm light.
