Description
Van Gogh’s The Plain of Auvers, hand-painted in oil
Painted at Auvers-sur-Oise in the summer of 1890, in the last weeks of his life, this sweeping landscape spreads the wide, fertile plain of Auvers under an immense sky, its patchwork of green and gold fields running far to the horizon. Van Gogh painted several of these vast, panoramic views of the cultivated country in his final months; here the broad fields and light sky are worked in firm, rhythmic strokes, a calm, expansive picture of the summer land.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the wide plain and rhythmic strokes keep the feeling of the original.
Where a plain landscape belongs
Its calm greens and golds suit a living room, a study or a hallway, and pair beautifully with wood and warm light.
