Description
Van Gogh’s Stairway at Auvers, hand-painted in oil
Painted at Auvers-sur-Oise in the summer of 1890, in the last weeks of his life, this shows a village stairway climbing between grassy banks, with women strolling and a figure on the steps beneath swaying trees. Everything in the scene, path, grass, trees and figures, ripples with Van Gogh’s restless late brushwork; the whole village corner surges with movement and fresh green, blue and gold.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the rippling stairway and figures keep the vitality of the original.
Where a village scene belongs
Its fresh, moving colour suits a living room, a study or a bright hallway, and pairs beautifully with wood, greenery and natural light.
