Description
Van Gogh’s Village Street and Steps in Auvers, hand-painted in oil
Painted at Auvers-sur-Oise in the summer of 1890, in the last weeks of his life, this shows a village street with steps and low houses, two figures on the path beneath swaying green trees. Everything in the scene, road, steps, roofs and trees, ripples and undulates with Van Gogh’s restless late brushwork; the whole corner of the village surges with movement in fresh green, blue and warm colour.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the rippling street and figures keep the vitality of the original.
Where a village scene belongs
Its fresh, moving colour suits a living room, a study or a bright hallway, and pairs beautifully with wood, greenery and natural light.
