Description
Van Gogh’s View of Auvers with Church, hand-painted in oil
Painted at Auvers-sur-Oise in the summer of 1890, in the last weeks of his life, this shows the village of Auvers spread across the hillside, its clustered rooftops and the tower of the church rising among fresh green trees and gardens. Van Gogh loved this old village where he spent his final months; here the warm roofs, deep greenery and blue sky are worked in his vigorous, rhythmic strokes, a bright, life-filled view of the whole village.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the village and church keep the vitality of the original.
Where a village view belongs
Its warm roofs and fresh greens suit a living room, a study or a bright hallway, and pair beautifully with wood, greenery and natural light.
