Description
Van Gogh’s Girl in the Woods, hand-painted in oil
Painted near The Hague in the autumn of 1882, this early woodland shows a small girl standing among the trunks of a wood, the ground thick with fallen leaves and slender trees rising around her. One of Van Gogh’s first oil paintings, made as he taught himself to paint, it catches the quiet, mysterious depth of the autumn wood in warm browns, russets and greens with a plain, atmospheric feeling for nature.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the wood and small figure keep the mood of the original.
Where a woodland scene belongs
Its warm, earthy tones suit a study, a hallway or a country-style living room, and pair well with wood and warm light.
