Description
Van Gogh’s View to Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, hand-painted in oil
In the summer of 1888 Van Gogh made a short trip to the Mediterranean fishing village of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, and it thrilled him. This view looks across sunlit fields to the little town and its church rising on the horizon, painted in the warm golds and blues of Provence with quick, energetic strokes, a picture full of the excitement of his first sight of the sea in the south.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the warm fields and distant village keep the light of the original.
Where a sunlit view belongs
Its warm golds and blues suit a living room, a bedroom or a hallway, and pair happily with wood, white walls and warm light.
