Painted at Saint-Rémy in 1889, Green Wheat Field with Cypress sets a field of young green wheat rippling in the wind beside one of the dark cypresses Van Gogh so loved. Everything moves, the wheat, the clouds, the tree, in the rolling, rhythmic brushwork of his great Saint-Rémy year, the same energy that runs through his cypress and wheatfield series.
