Description
Van Gogh’s Ravine, hand-painted in oil
Painted at Saint-Rémy in 1889, Ravine plunges into a deep, rocky gorge in the hills of Provence, a small stream rushing through the boulders and scrub, two tiny figures dwarfed by the towering walls. Van Gogh worked the whole scene in thick, swirling strokes of green, ochre and blue, the rock and water alive with movement, one of the most powerful and elemental landscapes of his asylum year.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the rugged ravine and swirling strokes keep the power of the original.
Where a dramatic landscape belongs
Bold and elemental, it makes a statement in a living room, a study or a stairwell, and pairs well with warm woods and considered interiors.
