Description
Van Gogh’s Sunflowers (Munich version), hand-painted in oil
One of the famous Arles sunflower canvases of 1888, this version, now in Munich, shows a full bouquet of sunflowers crowded into a plain earthenware vase against a bright ground, some in full bloom, others gone to seed. Van Gogh painted his sunflowers as a hymn to the southern sun, in radiant yellows laid on thick; few images in all of art are so instantly loved or so full of warmth.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the massed blooms and thick yellows keep the glow of the original.
Where the Sunflowers belong
Warm and iconic, they light up a living room, a kitchen or a hallway, and pair beautifully with warm woods, neutral walls and natural light.
