Description
Van Gogh’s Weaver at an Open Window, hand-painted in oil
Painted in Nuenen in 1884, this interior sets a weaver at his great dark loom beside an open window, through which the old church tower of Nuenen and a stretch of countryside can be seen. Van Gogh studied the Brabant weavers intently, drawn to the drama of the huge wooden loom in the dim cottage; here the shadowed machine, the working figure and the bright view beyond are held together in the warm earth tones of his Dutch period.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the loom and the window view keep the mood of the original.
Where an interior scene belongs
Its dark loom and warm light suit a study, a hallway or a considered interior, and pair well with wood and warm light.
