Description
Van Gogh’s Bank of the Oise at Auvers, hand-painted in oil
Painted at Auvers-sur-Oise in the summer of 1890, in the last weeks of his life, this shows the green bank of the river Oise with rowing boats moored at the edge, the water reflecting the sky and the far shore. Van Gogh painted the river at Auvers in the fine summer weather; here the sparkling water, moored boats and fresh greenery are worked in his rhythmic strokes of green, blue and white, a bright, restful riverside scene.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the riverbank and moored boats keep the freshness of the original.
Where a riverside scene belongs
Its fresh blues and greens suit a bedroom, a living room or a bright hallway, and pair beautifully with pale walls, wood and greenery.
