Description
Van Gogh’s Blossoming Chestnut Trees, hand-painted in oil
Painted at Auvers-sur-Oise in the spring of 1890, in the last months of his life, this shows chestnut trees in full flower, their branches laden with candles of white-and-pink blossom against fresh green and blue. Van Gogh delighted in the exuberant spring of the north, and painted the blossoming trees in vigorous, curling strokes full of light and movement, a joyful late burst of new life.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the blossom and vigorous strokes keep the vitality of the original.
Where a blossom scene belongs
Its fresh spring colour suits a bedroom, a living room or a bright hallway, and pairs beautifully with pale walls, wood and greenery.
