Description
Van Gogh’s Dance Hall in Arles, hand-painted in oil
Painted in Arles in 1888, Dance Hall in Arles shows a crowd of dancers packed under the glare of gas lamps, built from flat areas of bold colour and firm outlines. The composition owes much to the Japanese prints Van Gogh loved, and to the work of his friend Gauguin, a lively, decorative scene of local festivity in yellows, reds and greens.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the flat bold colour and packed crowd keep the energy of the original.
Where a lively scene belongs
Colourful and full of life, it suits a living room, a dining room or a study, and pairs well with warm, confident interiors.
