Description
Van Gogh’s Glass with Hellebores, hand-painted in oil
Painted in Paris in 1886, this delicate flower piece sets a few hellebores, the winter rose, in a plain glass against a soft ground. It belongs to the many flower studies Van Gogh made in his early Paris months to study fresh colour and touch; here the pale greenish-white blooms and slender leaves are set down in quick, tender strokes, quiet and full of light.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the hellebores and delicate touches keep the freshness of the original.
Where a flower still life belongs
Soft and quiet, it suits a bedroom, a kitchen or a living room, and pairs beautifully with pale walls, wood and greenery.
