Description
Van Gogh’s Haystacks in Provence, hand-painted in oil
Painted near Arles in the summer of 1888, this shows two great haystacks piled high in a farmyard, glowing gold against a warm blue sky, with a ladder resting on one and a small figure below. Van Gogh loved the abundance of the Provence harvest and painted the ricks in radiant yellows and ochres, their rounded masses set down with a rich, generous touch, a picture of high summer and plenty.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the golden ricks and warm sky keep the glow of the original.
Where a harvest scene belongs
Its warm gold suits a living room, a kitchen or a hallway, and pairs beautifully with warm woods, neutral walls and natural light.
