Description
Van Gogh’s Wheat Sheaves and Rising Moon, hand-painted in oil
Painted at Saint-Rémy in 1889, this evening landscape shows bound sheaves of wheat standing in a harvested field while an enormous orange moon rises behind the hills, flooding the scene with warm light. Van Gogh loved these charged twilight effects, and painted the sheaves, fields and glowing moon in rolling, rhythmic strokes, a warm, dreamlike nocturne of the harvest.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the rising moon and warm field keep the feeling of the original.
Where a warm nocturne belongs
Its glowing orange and gold suit a living room, a bedroom or a hallway, and pair beautifully with wood and warm light.
