Description
Van Gogh’s Les Alyscamps, Falling Autumn Leaves, hand-painted in oil
Painted in Arles in the autumn of 1888, while Gauguin was staying with him, this shows Les Alyscamps, the ancient Roman burial avenue lined with poplars, their leaves falling in drifts of orange and gold. Van Gogh and Gauguin painted the avenue side by side; here the flaming autumn colour, blue-shadowed path and small strolling figures fill the old walk with warmth and movement.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the autumn leaves and glowing colour keep the richness of the original.
Where an autumn avenue belongs
Its warm autumn colour suits a living room, a study or a hallway, and pairs beautifully with wood and warm light.
